Kick off St. Paddy’s Weekend with Jonesborough’s first ever Brew Fun Run! This community fun run is open to all ages and will loop through town with an option to stop by Depot Street Brewery for a free 5 oz. beer. It will then end back at the Storytelling Plaza with a Beer Garden. And you’ll want to stick around afterward for the Lighting of the Clocktower as it shines green for the weekend! The community fun run will begin at 7 p.m. in front of the Storytelling Center, be sure to bring your ID if you wish to have a beer.
Take a journey in search of gold in Tennessee’s Oldest Town! The scavenger hunt will take place throughout downtown all weekend long. with the mobile-friendly QR code scavenger hunt, you’ll explore 20 locations incorporating Jonesborough’s unique history and architecture. Find Paddy
While exploring downtown Jonesborough, keep your eyes peeled for Paddy the Leprechaun. Clues on where to find Paddy will be announced on Main Street Jonesborough’s Instagram page. But when you find Paddy, he may have a special treat to share with you! And be sure to get your picture made with him and hashtag #OnlyInJonesborough #FindPaddy to be entered to win a giveaway each day.
Enjoy Celtic music, beers from Depot Street Brewery and a special menu of Irish foods from Boone Street Market. Shamrockin’ on the Plaza will take place in front of the Storytelling Center from 4-7 p.m.
Saint Patrick’s Day Contra Dance:
What better way to end the day than with a Saint Patrick’s Day themed folk dance. What’s so unique about contra dancing is that it has mixed origins from English country dance, Scottish backgrounds as well as French dance styles in the 17th century. The Historic Jonesborough Dance Society will hold a Saint Patrick’s Day Contra Dance from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at the Visitors Center. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children and students or $15 for families.
