The warehouse began soon after the Heritage Alliance was founded in the early 2000s. The space was secured by Dr. Kennedy and he also secured the donation of the first items that filled the warehouse. It was first managed by their Preservationist Jenny Parker and then Justin Sanders.
The McKinney Center and UMOJA Johnson City is excited to host Crowns, a gospel musical, in downtown Jonesborough! Crowns is the story of a Chicago teenager who sent to live with her grandmother in South Carolina, finds connection among a community of resilient African American women.
Merinda Crowder’s art is mix of serendipity and intention. Combined this creates her fluid landscape yet abstract paintings. She has been painting since she retired in 2020 due to COVID. Crowder wanted to try fluid painting and to create art in retirement.
