No matter what you’re a fan of, from Sci-Fi to Fantasy to Non-Fiction, the Washington County Public Library (WCPL) has what you’re looking for!

They have many books and audiobooks to choose from!

In addition to monthly programs, WCPL offers free Wi-Fi on-site, free hotspot rental, free notary service, affordable copy and fax services, one-on-one tech help, STEAM kits for checkout, educational gaming tablets for checkout, Hands on Discovery Museum tickets, as well as an extensive digital collection.

It is always free to register for a library card, and they offer fine-free returns and automatic renewals when available.

Coming up is their book sale! There’s plenty of books to choose from. Check it out Sept. 28, 9am-8pm; Sept 29, 9am-6pm, and Sept. 30, 9am-2pm. This serves as a great fundraiser for the library.

Children’s:

Book Babies Storytime – Storytime for children ages 0-3.

Little Learners Storytime – Storytime for children ages 4-6.

Tail Waggin’ Tutors – Practice reading skills with a certified therapy dog! Reading aloud with a therapy dog can help boost confidence, improve reading level, and form a positive association with reading. Sign-up for a 15-minute session by calling the Jonesborough Library at 753-1800.

Children’s LEGO Club – A drop-in, unstructured, creative Lego build hour. Grades K-5. Younger and older siblings also welcome. Lego and Duplo provided.

Children’s Graphic Novel Club – For children 2– 5 grades. This is for kids who love to read graphic novels and for those who want to learn more about them.

Teen:

Teen Advisory GroupHelp the library choose and plan upcoming teen programs and activities. Earn a volunteer hour for participating.

Teen Writing Group6-12th Grade. They will have games, writing prompts, and more!

Teen LEGO Club Hang out, eat snacks, and build with Legos! Open to all 6-12th graders. Legos and snacks will be provided. No sign-up is required.

Teen Craft NightEach month they have a unique craft program! All supplies will be provided, and no registration is required. Open to rising 6th – 12th graders.

Teen Board Game NightPlay board games at the library! Bring one of your own, or play one of theirs. Open to all 6-12th graders. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Adult:

Jonesborough Book Group Join the library on the third Wednesday of each month for book group discussion.

Adult Craft NightEach month they host a unique craft program! All supplies will be provided and no sign-up is required! Must be 18 or older to attend.

Adult Game TimeJoin them for an afternoon of board game fun! Games will be provided, orbring your favorite. The event is free and open to everyone 18 years or older.

Genealogy Help NightThe Jonesborough Genealogical Society hosts its Genealogy Help Nights on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Jonesborough Library.

General:

Open Mic NightThe Washington County-Jonesborough Library is happy to host Open Mic Word Nights on the fourth Thursday of each month from 5:30-7:30 PM. This program is free and open to all, performances must be appropriate for a general audience and should not include language that is inappropriate for young audience members. Performances should be 10 minutes maximum and can include storytelling, poetry, comedy, riddle, spoken word, and more!

Knitting CircleBring your own knitting, or whatever project you’re working on, and join the library for two hours of creativity and community. If you don’t know how to knit and you’d like to learn, you can sign up at the front desk of either library or contact wcplprogramming@gmail.com or 423.477.1550 / 423.753.1800

Tech ClassesJoin the library at the Jonesborough Senior Center for an instructional tech program that will cover a variety of useful topics on a monthly basis. Call 423-753-4781 to sign up! All ages are welcome!

Friends of the LibraryJoin the library for the monthly meeting of our Friends of the Library members. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to attend! The Friends of the Washington County Library is a 501(c) (3) organization of volunteers dedicated to supporting the activities of the library.
