2. Experience The Jackson Theatre

Located in the heart of Historic Downtown Jonesborough, The Jackson Theatre is a beautifully restored venue that blends small town charm with a vibrant entertainment experience. Its history dates to the 1920s, when L.M. Broyles began showing silent films from his furniture store on West Main Street, eventually opening the Blue Mouse Theatre in 1922. It later became the Lyric Theater before closing and reopening on August 30, 1945, as the Jackson Theatre, named after President Andrew Jackson through a community contest.

Over the years, the theatre became a cherished part of local life, hosting films, live performances, and special guests. For many in Jonesborough, it was a place of childhood memories, first jobs, and first dates, where a dime could buy admission and a quarter could fill an entire Saturday.

Today, the theatre hosts a variety of events, including live music, comedy shows, film screenings, and special performances throughout the year. With its intimate setting and historic character paired with modern updates, it offers a unique and memorable experience for both locals and visitors.

Located along Main Street, The Jackson Theatre is the perfect addition to a night out in downtown Jonesborough, whether you are planning a date night, an evening with friends, or simply looking to enjoy live entertainment in a historic setting.
