The Historic Jonesborough Visitor Center
9:30 a.m. Start your day off at the Visitor Center to check in. Arrive early because you’ll want to look around before getting your wristband for the Garden Gala.
At the Visitor Center you’ll find handcrafted coffee mugs, cook books, specialty jewelry, and delicious local honey- just to name a few. They have nearly all your Jonesborough needs and whatever they don’t have they can help you find.
The Garden Tour Begins!
10 a.m. Enjoy your day at the Garden Gala where you’ll experience 10 private gardens on the self-guided tour with a vintage car parked at each location in celebration of “A Century of Gardens and Cars”.
Imagine strolling through native plant-lined pathways cascaded by age-old trees all in the setting of a town that is rich with history.
You’ll spend your day immersed in the aroma of fresh flowers, the relaxing music of nature and the magic of a fairy garden.
Kids and adults will both love the Vegetable Garden stop on the tour, a garden started by a boy and his father which blossomed into selling items at the local Farmers Market.
You’ll have the chance to hear from Certified Master Gardeners who will be present throughout the tour to answer your question and offer advice.
1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. And you won’t want to miss the Southern style tea which will be served in a private historic Jonesborough garden.
The tea sets the ambiance of true southern charm, enjoy homemade sweet and savory finger foods beneath gorgeous shade trees accompanied by renowned cellist Cherylonda Fitzgerald, with the Johnson City Symphony.
And of course, you don’t want to miss the newest addition, the antique cars! Not only do you get to experience extravagant and eccentric private gardens, you’ll also find fabulous Model-T’s and maybe even a Rolls Royce parked at each location. This is sure to make the perfect photo op!

If you’re feeling wild, head up the hill and just over the railroad tracks to Tennessee Hills Distillery where they believe “the old way is the right way”. If you have a sweet tooth then drop in at Another Touch Bakery for a delicious red velvet cupcake like you’ve never tasted before.
5 p.m. You will definitely want to stop by and visit the Marketplace Vendors set up on the International Storytelling Center Plaza until 6 p.m. There will be everything from yard art, stained glass, plants, garden items, tools, garden-style jewelry, and other handcrafted items.
6:00 p.m. Depart from Jonesborough. Tennessee’s Oldest Town will miss you so come back soon!
