Whiskey, Rum, Aged Bourbon And Even…. “Briskey”?

Trip Ideas 2
Not long ago I visited Tennessee Hills Distillery with a group of friends. I wouldn’t have thought that Jonesborough would be the home of a pretty amazing distillery, but it is. The surprisingly young owner’s sense of style and love for good liquor definitely carried through the vibe of the distillery and taste of his product. It was trendy and hip with a subtle nod to the heritage of the town.

Through Windows of the Past

August 11, 2017
Trip Ideas
I was in full tourist mode as I strolled down the street in beautiful historic downtown Jonesborough. I wondered what the town was like 100 years ago. The buildings still had that old timey charm making me think about the history of the place. I couldn’t help but gaze at a gorgeous tan building with maroon trim, and to top it all off the building had an outstanding 2nd floor porch overlooking downtown.

A Southern Sweet Tooth Cure

Trip Ideas
The pink and brown walls, simple cake pan décor, and cases filed with goodies immediately told me that I was in the right place for a sweet tooth cure. I stumbled across this little gem during my stay in Jonesborough and I couldn’t be happier about it. Another Touch Bakery has a girly flare with true southern hospitality.

Storybrook Farm: A Perfect Wedding Venue

January 15, 2017
Trip Ideas

Every woman dreams of the perfect setting for her wedding and I was certainly no different. After months of searching, a friend told me about a wedding she had attended at Storybrook Farm in Jonesborough.

She went on and on about how beautiful it was so I just had to check it out. Making the short trip to Jonesborough, which is such a charming and beautiful town, it took me all of two minutes to fall completely in love with the venue. And after meeting the owners, John and Diane Vogt, there wasn’t a doubt in my mind that this was where I was getting married.

Chocolate Fest is Feb. 11

January 5, 2017
Trip Ideas 1

So, confession time… I am a certified chocoholic. Always have been and I don’t see that ever changing.

And as someone who has long eaten dessert before the entrée – lets face it, life is too short not to treat your taste buds to the sweet stuff first – being able to enjoy last year’s inaugural Chocolate Fest in Jonesborough was nothing short of a dream come true.

Think about it. Sweet treats everywhere you look, all through downtown Jonesborough. And, it also happens around Valentine’s Day, which also makes it a perfect outing for you and your significant other to enjoy together. OK, so Chocolate Fest is actually Feb. 11 this year but who says you can’t celebrate the holiday over the course of four wonderful, chocolate-filled days?

With the holidays just around the corner, Jonesborough will be kicking off Christmas in Olde Jonesborough with a series of fun activities on Saturdays, beginning Nov. 26, that my family can’t wait for!
Every Saturday will feature a bunch of free activities that truly get me in the holiday spirit. Santa will, of course, be on hand – sitting in his sleigh ready to take photos – and no matter how old my kids get, they can’t wait to see jolly old St. Nick. And it’s not just the little ones – my husband and I love having our picture taken with Santa ever year!

39th Annual Jonesborough Progressive Dinner Dec. 3

Jonesborough is ready to ring in the holiday season and Tennessee’s oldest town does it up right with the 39th Annual Jonesborough Progressive Dinner, which will take place Saturday, Dec. 3.
Sponsored by the Heritage Alliance of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, this is a must-attend event for me. Like many in the region and in surrounding states as well, my husband and I look forward to this every year and always circle the date on the calendar.
