Downtown at Dusk: Wizardly World Edition
If you weren’t able to purchase a ticket, it’s okay! There are still plenty of ways to get into the wizardly fun from 5 – 8:30 pm!
The Hogwarts Express: Little ones can board at Platform 9 3/4, in front of the Storytelling Center, for a ride on the Hogwarts Express. Hagrid’s Hut: Visit Hagrid at his hut located at the Christopher Taylor Cabin. Out front you’ll be greeted by Fang and the rest of the fun folks at the Washington County Animal Shelter Foundation.
Oak and Thistle Wand Shop Starting $10 per wand: Make a wand at Oak & Thistle Wand Shop in front of the courthouse on Main Street. You will fill out a scroll listing what type of core you’d like for your wand. Each wand tip has been handcrafted and is as unique as the witch or wizard who it chooses. After your wand is complete, you’ll practice your swish and flick to make sure it works! There will also be free wand making for muggles like Mr. Kowalski.
The Crooked Broom Tavern: Butterbeer ranges from $2.50-$4: Taste the best butterbeer this side of Hogsmeade! Choose from two sizes, the goblin size (9 oz.) for $2.50 and the troll size (16 oz.) for $4. The Crooked Broom Tavern is located in front of the courthouse on Main Street and Butterbeer is non-alcoholic. Butterbeer can also be purchased at Texas Burritos and More. Expecto Sweets by Debbie’s Edibles ranging from $1-$5: Enjoy wizardly themed treats located beside The Crooked Broom Tavern in front of the courthouse on Main Street offering Butterbeer Cupcakes, Butterbeer Cookies, Butterbeer Muddy Buddies, Sorting Hat Cupcakes and Cockroach clusters.
The Butterbeer Popcorn Stand: Enjoy free butterbeer popcorn in front of the courthouse on Main Street, provided by the good muggles of the Town of Jonesborough.
Face Painting By Jessica’s Parlor of Paints $5: Get your face painted and get into the spirit with a fun wizardly-inspired design in front of Central Christian Church.
The Daily Potter Paper works hand in wand with the Herald & Tribune, bringing you all the news muggles and wizards may need! Stop by there and pick up a copy of the Daily Potter which features local witch and wizard stories. This is the perfect keepsake! Limited supply of papers.
Other things to do and see: Throughout the event, you can catch street performances in front of the Courthouse. You’ll also see lots of great photo opportunities along the way so be sure to take plenty of pics and tag us on social media at Main Street Jonesborough.
Join us in Downtown Jonesborough as it’s transformed into a world of wizardry. On July 30th from 5-8:30 p.m. we’re celebrating Harry Potter’s birthday so from 5 to 8:30 p.m., stroll through town and enjoy the sights and sounds of sorcery and magic. Purchase a ticket and sample tastings of themed food and drinks at designated locations.
Tickets are $20 for adults (includes some alcohol options) and $10 for those under 21.
The event is expected to sell out so we recommend pre-purchase of tickets.
At 7 p.m., the Sorcerer’s Sprint will start in front of the Storytelling Center. This 1-mile run does require a separate ticket. More information is below. Purchase tickets to both for the full experience and you’ll get $5 off.
The Sorcerer’s Sprint
What is better than one birthday? Well, TWO, of course! Join us Saturday, July 30th for a 1 mile race to celebrate Harry Potter’s 42nd birthday. For all you Potterheads, Harry and J.K. Rowling share the same birthday. For The Goose Chase crew, that means we need a PARTY! We want the costumes, the butterbeer, the wands, the chocolate covered frogs, the glasses…all of it! Come dressed up in your best Harry Potter outfit and help us celebrate this double birthday!
We solemnly swear that you will have a blast at the Sorcerer’s Sprint. No matter which common room you call home, we’re bringing all houses together for this 1 mile race.
Sport your house gear and meet up with the rest of us who seem to have lost our letter in the mail. This party will be perfect for all muggles.

Outdoor Movie Featuring Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Jonesborough is set to host Food Trucks & Flicks with a Harry Potter twist!
This event is family food truck night with an outdoor movie, games, and more in Persimmon Ridge Park on the ballfields on Saturday, July 23 from 5 to 11 p.m. That evening we will show Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at 8:45 p.m.
Come dressed in your house robes or as your favorite Harry Potter character. We’ll have plenty of butterbeer and a wand-making station!
There will be around 15 food truck options varying from BBQ to pizza, donuts to Italian ice, and everything in between. Attendees can enjoy corn hole, kids games, activities, and music throughout the night.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will begin at 8:45 p.m. at Persimmon Ridge Ballfields, located beside Wetlands Water Park. The movie will be projected on a screen and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

Calling all wizards, witches, and muggles! Grab your wand and robes and join us at Persimmon Ridge Park for a Harry Potter Trivia with Budds!
The team that touches the Triwizard Cup first (aka gets first place at trivia) will receive 6 tickets to the sold out Downtown at Dusk: Wizardly World Edition!
It is $20 per team plus processing fee and you can have up to six (6) per team.
