Take part in the art of story sharing and active listening on March 25th when Listening Day returns.
The McKinney Center and StoryTown will be hosting a Listening Day on Tuesday, March 25th from 9:00 am-12:00 pm at the Jonesborough Senior Center. Area residents are encouraged to come and share personal stories about moving to Jonesborough, immigrating to the United States, service stories from the Armed Forces, humorous tales about miscommunication, and cooking adventures gone wrong. If any of these topics spark memories, come by the Senior Center that day to share a story. Other stories are welcome, too. Everyone has a story to tell.

These stories may be used as source material for the monthly StoryTown Radio Show or for the annual community play. To schedule a time during Listening Day, call the McKinney Center at 423-753-0562 to reserve a thirty-minute time slot, you can also call the Senior Center at 423-753-4781 or stop by there in person. Groups and families are also welcome to come and share stories together. If you’re not available that day but would like to share a story, please contact the McKinney Center directly.

Listening Day will be held at the Senior Center, located at 307 East Main Street in Jonesborough. You do not have to be a member of the center to come to Listening Day.
If you want to hear and see how StoryTown shares the stories we collect, come on out to our next production on Monday, March 24th at 7:00 pm at the McKinney Center. We’ll be sharing stories about strong women in “Breaking Through: Stories of Tough Times and Even Tougher Women.” The musical guest will be the local band Heartstrings. The first two shows of the year sold out, so make sure you get your tickets in advance by calling 423-753-1010, or online at Jonesborough.com/tickets.
