Jonesborough is inviting visitors to experience why Tennessee’s Oldest Town is a premier travel destination during a free “Make & Take” event in celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week on Friday, May 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. The event will be held at the Jonesborough Visitors Center and will feature a charm bar, flower bouquet bar, postcard-making station, and more. The event is designed to highlight the unique experiences visitors can enjoy in Jonesborough and allow them to create and take a piece of their visit home with them.
Held in recognition of National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW), the event highlights the vital role tourism plays in supporting local businesses, preserving history, and driving the local economy. The celebration offers a hands-on glimpse into the kinds of unique, small-town experiences that draw visitors to Jonesborough year-round.
Guests can enjoy a variety of hands-on activities hosted by tourism destinations in Jonesborough. First Class Floral will offer a free flower bar where visitors can create custom bouquets with up to five flowers and greenery, while supplies last. Merely Modest Boutique will host a charm bar experience where guests can design their own jewelry by selecting a bracelet or necklace and adding charms. The first 15 guests will receive a free chain with up to three charms.

The Jonesborough Visitors Center will feature a complimentary postcard-making station, where visitors can create a specialty “Greetings from Jonesborough” postcard and have it mailed for them, encouraging them to share their visit with others. Attendees can also enjoy Jonesborough-themed giveaways, a photo opportunity, a sidewalk sale, and personalized recommendations from staff on things to see and do around town. Complimentary mini layered cake cups will be available while supplies last.
Additional experiences include complimentary popcorn from the Jackson Theatre and a historic craft demonstration from the Heritage Alliance, with staff dressed in period clothing sharing insights into Jonesborough’s rich history and storytelling tradition.

Jonesborough’s “Make & Take” event will be held on the front porch of the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center, located at 117 Boone Street.
Additional festivities will take place throughout the area to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week. From May 4-6, the Jonesborough Tourism Department will partner with Visit Johnson City to welcome travelers at Tennessee Welcome Centers in Bristol, Kingsport and Unicoi, offering treats and sharing information about the region’s attractions.
