Historic Jonesborough is a year-round destination with some amazing events. We host a festival for nearly each holiday and encourage everyone to get into the festive spirit by dressing up. Get creative, mark your calendars, and dress up at these five events:
Wizardly World of Historic Jonesborough
This free event has many different magical activities! There are some ticketed aspects like the Downtown at Dusk: Wizardly World Edition which sells out every year. Dress up as your favorite character from the Harry Potter series. We also have the Sorcerer’s Sprint fun run hosted by the Goose Chase.
St. Paddy’s Day
You’re kilting me? We have an amazing St. Paddy’s Day celebration from Highland Cows to Shamrockin’ on the Plaza. We also have Highland Games that would be perfect to show off your highland gear.
Jonesborough Days
There is so much for everyone to enjoy the entire weekend of Jonesborough Days: a parade to kick off the festivities, games and fun for the kids, a children’s area, musical performances, crafters, yummy festival food, and, of course, fireworks. Get patriotic and dress up in red, white & blue!
Halloween
The last weekend in October we host many Halloween activities! Experience a whole different world as Main Street in downtown Historic Jonesborough is transformed into a hubbub of little ghosts, goblins, superheroes and good witches.
We usually have a costume contest that you’ll need to enter!
Christmas
The days are shorter and the nights are colder, but that does not stop Historic Downtown Jonesborough from having a good time. The celebration begins the weekend after Thanksgiving and continues for the next three weekends, one of which is Whoville Christmas! Dress up as a character from the beloved How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
We also have Doggone Christmas so your fur baby can get dressed up!
Jonesborough Star Wars Day: May the Fourth Be With You
Jonesborough Area Merchants & Service Association (JAMSA) will host Star Wars Day on May 4 in downtown Jonesborough! Dress up as your favorite character, you have your choice of different movies and shows! There is even a costume contest for people and pets!
There will be themed snacks, drinks, and souvenirs throughout downtown!’
