Once Memorial Day rolls around in Jonesborough, it’s hard to keep up with all the activities going on throughout town.
Just a few things to keep in mind if you’re visiting, whether it’s for a day outing or for several days:
Wetlands Water Park – Open now through Labor Day, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from noon-6 p.m. Day passes for adults (ages 13 and over) are $12, children (ages 4-12) are $9, Seniors (age 55 and over) are $9 and children aged 3 and under will be admitted free. If you’re a late arriver, tickets are half price after 3 p.m.!
Wetlands features a rain tree, an 80-foot, 100-foot and 200-foot fiberglass slide, lazy river with tube rental, water bubblers, tumble buckets, zero depth wading area, children’s otter slides, shaded pavilions, lounge/deck chairs, sand volleyball court, covered dining area and shower facilities and restrooms.
Music on the Square – Every Friday evening, beginning at 7 p.m., from now through September, Main Street is blocked off to through traffic and everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the concerts. This is a free event but donations are appreciated and don’t forget to bring a chair!
Movies on Main – Select Saturdays through September at 8 p.m., kick back on Main Street for a free family movie in front of the Lollipop Shop. The evenings begin with Candy Bingo and the movie at dusk.
Main Street Brews and Tunes – Every Sunday from 3-5 p.m. through September at the International Storytelling Plaza, a local craft brewery will be featured, along with live music and a featured food truck. Bring a chair and enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon in downtown.
Storytelling Live! Teller-in-Residence – Now through October, you can visit the International Storytelling Festival and hear some of the world’s finest storytellers. Taking place each Tues. – Sat. at 2 pm, tickets are $12 per person and reservations are recommended. There are several evening performances schedules throughout the season so be sure to check the schedule for more information.
