Join the ChesterInn State Historic Site and Museum on August 17^th at 6:30 pm as wewelcome Mr. Frank Collins.

Mr. Collins’ presentationis “Historic Jonesborough – Image Overlays using Google Earth Pro,DeedMapper, Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps, and the earliest records of Jonesborough”.  He will be demonstrating how to overlayhistoric records, maps, and land plats onto Google Earth satellite images.  The maps and plats include the 1796 Plan ofJonesborough, as well as Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps (1888 through 1939).  Mr. Collins will also show work done withDeedMapper software that uses land record metes & bounds to create landplats.  Two of the first Jonesboroughland records contain hand drawn plats that will be illuminated using GoogleEarth Pro.  Using the Sanborn Fire Mapsand other records with Google Earth Pro’s transparency function will allow theaudience to compare current structures with those that existed in 1888, 1939and other years. The program willbegin at 6:30 pm in the International Storytelling Center. The program is freeand open to the public!

Frank Collins is alocal historian and retired Statistician and Program Manager.  Frank and wife Amy Collins live in the oldJonesborough High School, now known as Academy Hill.  Frank researched and published a website forAcademy Hill at www.academyhill.us.

The 2023 seasonof History Happy Hour will run from April through November with a new programevery third Thursday of the month.
