It’stime to celebrate a new exhibit at the Chuckey Depot Museum! The Museum inJonesborough will host a reception for its newest exhibit “The Greatest Good tothe Greatest Number: The Railroad in Northeast Tennessee” on Thursday,September 9^th at 6:30 pm. This exhibit will talk about the East Tennesseeand Virginia Railroad, the first line to come through Jonesborough and Chuckey,and how it grew over time and came to be a part of the Southern Railroad. Thestory is a tale of sacrifice, bankruptcy, and ultimately triumph.

Theexhibit includes artifacts from the East Tennessee and Virginia line, the EastTennessee and Georgia line, the East Tennessee, Virginia, and Georgia line, andthe Southern Railway System. Come out to the reception on September 9^th,get a first look at the new exhibit, and learn how important the railroad wasto the people of Northeast Tennessee. As the community leaders who supported theEast Tennessee and Virginia line recognized, the Railroad was “the greatestgood to the greatest number.” The Chuckey Depot Museum is free of charge, butdonations are greatly appreciated.

Youcan visit the museum in person on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday from 1:00 pm –4:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. The museum will be closed untilSeptember 9^th for exhibit changeover and maintenance.
