gingerbread

For a second year, Jonesborough will host a walkable holiday contest and display called Jonesborough’s Gingerbread Village.

Individuals can participate by building gingerbread houses, replicas of historic buildings, and more to be displayed throughout downtown storefront windows beginning December 3 and continuing through December 25. The public will be encouraged to view all the edible works of art and also vote on their favorite entries. There will be three categories, child, adult/family, and professional. Child and adult/family first-place winners will each receive $100 cash and the professional first-place winner will be awarded $500 cash. The deadline to enter is December 1st.

Individuals can pick up a free gingerbread kit or make their own gingerbread house and drop off to be displayed in shops downtown. There will be a limited number of 50 gingerbread kits given out from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 27 at the International Storytelling Center. Drop off is December 1 at the International Storytelling Center from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The public will vote on their favorite entries from December 3 through December 18 online, and the winners will be announced on December 20. Gingerbread houses will be displayed from December 3 through December 25.
