DESCRIPTION:Twinklinglights\, the scent of Fraser firs\, handcrafted ornaments and lovely Christmasdecorations are filling the shops and store fronts of downtown Jonesborough.The annual Celebration of Trees\, a unique exhibit of beautifully decoratedChristmas trees\, will be held in Historic Jonesborough December 6-26\, 2021. \nThis year’sexhibit begins at the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center where 7 beautifullydecorated live trees will be on display within the Old Town Emporium Gift Shop.These trees are all sponsored and decorated by area businesses and non-profitorganizations. Here you can pick up a program which features a listing of locationsthroughout the historic district where you can view over 30 decorated trees. \nThecelebration of trees has been a Jonesborough tradition for over 30 years.Growing over the years it has now become on event that stretches from theVisitors Center to the Jonesborough Senior Center to the Chuckey Depot Museumat Jonesborough on 2nd Ave. The exhibit features many spots in betweenas well\, with stops at the International Storytelling Center\, Noelle\, Gabriel’sChristmas\, Mill Spring Park Gazebo\, McKinney Center and many others. You aresure to leave in the holiday spirit! \nThe exhibitis free and open to the public on display Monday\, December 6 through Sunday\,December 26. Exhibit programs are located at the Jonesborough Visitors Centerand the International Storytelling Center. This year the program with double asa ballot where you can vote for the “People’s Choice Award” for the bestdecorated tree in town. DESCRIPTION:The Jonesborough Storytellers Guild is celebrating a milestone of 25 years of sharing live storytelling in downtown Jonesborough on Tuesday night. \nOur Guild is the longest running Storytelling Guild in the United States as well the only Guild in the Nation that offers a weekly public performance venue.  Prior to the creation of our guild\, the only live Storytelling was once a year at the National Storytelling Festival. There were seven creative founding members:        David Joe Miller             G Lee Hearl        Carole Ann Huebner        Jack Huebner                Leon Overbay        Bob Phillips        Linda PolandThese founding members saw the need and made a commitment to bring live Storytelling to our town. SUMMARY:Historic Jonesborough Dance Society- Contra Dance
DESCRIPTION:The Historic Jonesborough Dance Society was chartered in the Fall of 2005 as a non-profit\, educational organization to promote a better understanding and appreciation of American folk dancing\, its music\, its history and related folklore. HJDS is a group affiliate of the Country Dance and Song Society. We are an all-volunteer organization based in Jonesborough\, the oldest town in Tennessee. \nWe will hold community dances two Saturdays every month in the auditorium of the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center at 117 Boone Street. Our dances are open to the public and feature live music in a smoke and alcohol free environment. No experience is necessary. Each dance is taught by the caller for the evening. You do not have to bring a partner. Comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended. Snacks and beverages are for sale in the visitors center.
