DESCRIPTION:The WashingtonCounty Library has teamed up with the Jonesborough community for a secondyear to bring a virtual ​trick-or-treating alternativeto the Haunts and Happenings event. \nParticipatingbusinesses in Historic Jonesborough will have QR codes displayed in theirwindows​\, these codes will be changed every Wednesday from October 4 ​to October24. Each code ​equals a specific prize\,ranging from handfuls of candy\, full-sized candy bars ​or digital raffletickets for giveaways. Prize pick up will be October 25 to October 29. \nIn order to participate\, pleasevisit the Beanstack websiteand register. The Beanstack app ​is also available for both iOS andAndroid devices. SUMMARY:A Spot On the Hill
DESCRIPTION:A Spot on the Hill\,the original\, research-based play returns this October to the Old JonesboroughCemetery. Now celebrating its seventh season\, this edition features newcharacters. New stories include members of the Panhorst family\, John Simpsonwho owned the Mansion House\, Spanish American War veteran William Armstrong\,and Lucy Stuart who has a secret she’s been keeping.  You’ll meet them and many more! Guests areencouraged to bring blankets and chairs to sit on. Come and listen to realstories of real lives among real tombstones. \nPerformances for A Spot on the Hill willtake place at 6:30 p.m. on October 15th\, 16th\, 22nd\,and 23rd. There will be 2:00 p.m. matinee performances on October 16thand 23rd. We have made some changes this year in light of theongoing Covid19 pandemic\, and there will be no indoor performances. Tickets arelimited\, and sell out fast\, so make sure you buy yours today. Tickets are $8.00and proceeds benefit the Heritage Alliance’s educational programs andinitiatives\, including ongoing programming in Jonesborough’s historiccemeteries. \n  \nAudience members should arrive 15 minutes prior to showtime. Parking is available at the First Baptist Church and downtown. It is ashort walk up East Main Street to the cemetery from the First Baptist Churchlot. A golf cart courtesy shuttle will be available for guests who need it.This program is not suggested for children less than 10 years of age.
