Donald Davis Storytelling Concert

Donald Davis, one of America’s favorite masterstorytellers, is coming to the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center on April16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. The two-night concert will be unique with Davis tellingdifferent stories each evening.
Davis was bornin a Southern Appalachian Mountain world that was rich in stories. “I didn’tlearn stories, I just absorbed them.” Davis says as he recounts tales learnedfrom a family of traditional storytellers who have lived on the same WesternNorth Carolina land since 1781.
This year, theTown of Jonesborough has new additions to everyone’s favorite storytellingperformance. Before Davis hits the stage, live music will be provided by ScottWild, an American singer/songwriter specializing in vintage folk rock. Directlyafter his concert Davis will host a meet and greet for fans.
Davis’ resumeboasts numerous experiences including Davidson College, Duke UniversityDivinity School, a retired Methodist minister and former chairperson of theboard of Directors for the National Storytelling Association. He is a favoriteat the National Storytelling Festival and has also served as a featured tellerat the Smithsonian Institute, the World’s Fair as well as festivals andconcerts throughout the United States and the world.
For DonaldDavis, storytelling is a way of giving and living life. He invites eachlistener to come along, pull deep inside for one’s own stories and personallyshare the common experiences that celebrate the creative spirit. For DonaldDavis, storytelling “is not what I do for a living, but it is how I do all thatI do while I am living.”
